A Short Note On International Classification Of Diseases...

The ICD-CM (International Classification of Diseases -Clinical Modification) system was implemented by the United States in the 1970’s, although it was utilized by the world s healthcare community for over a century (Vines, Braceland, Rollins, Miller, 2008). ICD-10-CM system was initially designed for classifying and reporting diseases in all United States health care settings; it is a modified version of the World Health Organizations ICD-10. ICD-CM-10 was created to support current US health information needs. There are several differences in ICD-CM-9 and ICD-CM-10 versions. Since it was developed in the 1970s, the ICD-9-CM code set no longer fits with the needs of the 21st-century health care system. Consequently, reliance on outdated and imprecise ICD-9-CM information adversely impacts the value of healthcare data collection. Currently, ICD-9-CM code sets do not meet the necessary requirements to track, identify, and analyze new clinical services and treatments available for patients. In the ICD-10-CM system, medical conditions are grouped together, and the categories are alphanumeric; there are more diagnosis codes to choose from, thereby allowing more accuracy and detail when capturing healthcare data. ICD-10-CM code sets are more detailed and include severity of conditions, laterality, and complexity which allows for more precision and tracking of conditions. These resources could be directed elsewhere if teachers acquired this knowledge from their preservice training (Koonce, 2016). Pre-service teacher education (PSTE) programs are the first form of professional study that individuals complete to enter the teaching profession (â€Å"Designing Effective Pre-Service Teacher Education Programs,† n.d.). Conjunctions A conjunction is a word which joins two sentences to complete their meaning. There are two kinds of conjunctions: 1. Co-ordinating Conjunctions: When the conjunction is used to join two statements of equal importance, the conjunction is said to be a co-ordinating conjunction. The seven coordinating conjunctions in English are: FOR – is to introduce the reason for the preceding clause AND – joins two similar ideas together NOR – The conjunction nor is not extinct, but it is not used nearly as often as the other conjunctions. Its most common use is as the little brother in the correlative pair, neither-nor BUT – joins two contrasting ideas together OR – joins two alternative ideas YET – is very similar to ‘but’ as it also joins two contrasting ideas together SO – shows that the second idea is the result of the first An easy way to remember these six conjunctions is to think of the word FANBOYS. Each of the letters in this somewhat unlikely word is the first letter of one of the coordinating conjunctions. Among the coordinating conjunctions, the most common, of course, are AND, BUT and OR. SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS A subordinating conjunction is a word which joins together a dependent clause and an independent clause. There are numerous subordinating conjunctions. Correlative Conjunctions Correlative conjunctions are used in pairs and also connect equal elements. Examples of correlative conjunctions include  either†¦or, whether†¦or, not only†¦but also, both†¦and,  andneither†¦nor. Ex. It is another interesting phenomenon of history that any conflict within post-World War II Germany,  whether  between the two Germanys  or  between two sets of Germans, often resulted in one side’s claiming that the other used had fascist tactics. Subordinating Conjunctions Subordinating conjunctions  are used to show the relationship of the subordinate clause (a group of related words that contains a subject and predicate but cannot stand alone) to the rest of the sentence. Examples of subordinating conjunctions include  while, after, until, when, where, before, if, that, unless, because, although, though,  and  whether. Ex. Sherry walked to school this morning because her car battery was dead. Conjunctive Adverbs While they are not true conjunctions, conjunctive adverbs often function as conjunctions. They don’t show relationships  within  a sentence, but rather show the relationship between two independent clauses (a complete sentence, or a group of related words that contain a subject, a predicate, and can stand alone). Examples of conjunctive adverbs include  also, consequently, furthermore, however, indeed, instead, meanwhile, moreover, nonetheless, similarly, therefore, thus, besides, next, specifically,  and  subsequently. Ex. A first glance at his bibliography gives the appearance that the work may rely somewhat heavily on secondary source material;  however, a number of primary sources are also used, and it should be noted that the publication dates of the secondary source material range throughout the span of the study. Note that two complete sentences are connected. Therefore, a semicolon is needed. The semicolon shows that the two sentences are closely related and that the writer wants the two sentences to stay linked in the writer’s mind, while showing where one sentence ends and the next one begins. Importance Of Yin-Yang Essay This symbol, known as the Tai Chi Chu symbol, or Yin-Yang symbol has itsroots in ancient Chinese cosmology. The original meaning of yin andyang is representative of the mountainsboth the dark side and the brightside, or the contrasting shaded and sunlight slopes of the mountain. These twowords can possibly be traced back to the Shang and Chou Dynasty,(1550 1050BC). But most scholars credit the Yin and Yang to the Han Dynasty(206B.C.-A.D. 220). At this time, The Yin Yang School was founded by Tsou Yen. It combines the ancient philosophy of the 5 elements: wood, fire, earth, metal,water; and combined them into a cosmology of cyclical movements. The arrangementbetween the two poles forms a cycle of movement or the meaning of change. Inrelationship to the elements, wood and fire belong to the yang, and water andmeter to yin. Earth belongs to both yin and yang because it assists both. Theyin and yang only represent opposite poles NOT good or evil. You might ask whatrole the Yin and Yang play in everyday life. It was observed that nature appears to group intopairs mutually dependent opposites. For example, the concept of night has nomeaning without the concept of day. Chinesebelie ved that in any situation, that without the positive and the negative therecould never be a whole. Because you want get a perfect fit. There are so manyexamples that can be explained, examples that have never truly been thoughtthrough or examined. For instance, a magnet has a South Pole and a North Pole. Putting two south sides or two north sides together is impossible, but if youput the north and south together, you form a whole. A joining together of theopposite poles. Another example would be a person riding a bicycle. If a personriding a bicycle wants to go somewhere he/she cannot pump on both pedals at thesame time or not pump on them at all. In order to go somewhere he/she has topump on one pedal and release the other. So the movement of going forwardrequires this oneness of pumping and releasing. This oneness ofthings is a characteristic of the Chinese mind. In the Chinese language, wordsare even looked on as a whole because their meanings are derived from eachother. For example, the Chinese character for good and the Chinesecharacter for not good, when combined together will reflect the quality ofsomething (whether good or not good). Likewise, the Chinese character for long and the Chinese character for short, when brought together meanlength. All these examples show us that everything has a complementarypart to form a whole. Without one it is impossible to have the other. Inclosing, I believe that most human beings live their life according to thesaying, Dont sweat the small stuff. Small stuff meaning things thatreally dont serve a purpose in everyday life. Daily we become even moreblinded by the big picture instead of seeing the beauty in things that wenormally dont care about. Being at one with yourself and your surroundingscould be a wonderful experience, but not many are willing to take that step.
